For Builders & Operators

How builders, operators and specialists connect with projects and teams in the Lumen network.

Lumen works with experienced builders and operators who can help ambitious teams move faster. This is a relationship-led network, not a job board or a recruitment agency.

Who this is for

  • Product and engineering leaders who can shape a product or build the technical foundation for scale.
  • Growth and go-to-market operators who understand distribution, partnerships and revenue.
  • Finance, legal and operations specialists with experience in technology companies and digital assets.
  • Designers and researchers who can improve how a product is understood and used.
  • Advisors with relevant sector, operating or governance experience.

Engagement models

ModelTypical use
Full-timeA leadership or senior role within a project or company.
FractionalOngoing part-time support for a specific function.
AdvisoryPeriodic guidance on strategy, product, growth or governance.
Project-basedA defined piece of work with a clear scope and outcome.

Compensation, equity and scope are agreed directly between the operator and the team. Lumen does not set commercial terms or take the place of a formal hiring process.

How introductions work

Lumen starts with your context: the capability you bring, the stage and type of team you want to work with, your availability and the kind of engagement you are open to. We then look for projects where that capability is genuinely needed.

When there is a potential fit, we share a short summary with the team and confirm interest on both sides before making an introduction. The first conversation is for both parties to assess alignment. There is no guarantee of a role or engagement.

What to share

A useful introduction starts with a concise profile:

  1. What you do. Your core capability and the problems you are best at solving.
  2. Where you have done it. Relevant experience, companies, projects or outcomes.
  3. What you are looking for. Full-time, fractional, advisory or project-based, and the stage or sector you prefer.
  4. Availability. Your time zone, notice period or current capacity.
  5. A link or reference. A profile, portfolio, case study or public work that helps the other side understand you.

Do not share confidential information about a current employer or client. Any detailed disclosure should happen only after a mutual conversation and appropriate agreements.

What makes a strong fit

  • Specific expertise. A clear capability that a team actually needs at its current stage.
  • Relevant context. Experience with the sector, business model or type of problem.
  • Realistic expectations. A scope and level of commitment that both sides can sustain.
  • Professional conduct. Responsiveness, discretion and respect for the other party's time.

For projects looking for operators

If you are a founder looking for a builder or operator, read For Founders & Projects and describe the capability you need, the stage of the team and the type of engagement you have in mind. Lumen will assess whether there is a relevant match in the network.
